School Parliament

At Grange Academy, we promote a wide range of pupil leadership opportunities to develop communication, organisation and debating skills. We are committed to building confidence, responsibility and independence through our School Parliament and RRSA Steering Group.

Pupil Leadership

Our School Parliament is a valued pupil body, with representatives from every class elected by their peers. It meets regularly to discuss issues affecting school life, giving pupils an active role in decision-making. Members organise meetings, set agendas, record minutes, gather pupil views, and debate and vote on key topics. Meeting minutes are shared on the school noticeboard.

Parliament members contribute to areas such as school dinners, Grange Values, health and safety, and environmental improvements. They also take part in staff recruitment by interviewing candidates and providing feedback. The Parliament is supported by Mr Wright.

Pupil Voice and Wellbeing

Pupil voice is embedded across school life, including lessons, assemblies and RSHE. Key features include:

  • Regular pupil surveys on topics such as safeguarding and internet safety
  • ‘Go-to adult’ posters in every classroom
  • A strong culture of support from all staff
  • Accessible resources to ensure all pupils can share their views
  • Assemblies and lessons on key safety themes
