Key Information

Partnership with Parents

At Grange Academy we believe that education is a partnership between pupils, parents/carers and school.

All three partners need to work together to create a secure foundation for learning. Therefore, we encourage our students and their families to become actively involved in the life of the school.  We also believe in the importance of regular communication.

The school communicates with parents in a number of ways:

  • Home-School Diaries / Learning Logs
  • Evidence Me
  • Summative (progress) reports (December & July)
  • Annual review report
  • Annual review meetings
  • Parents Evenings twice yearly
  • Newsletters
  • Letters home
  • e-Communication: school website, texts, phone calls

We may also take the opportunity to contact you if we have reason to be concerned over any aspect of your child’s progress or behaviour.

Should you need to contact school our office staff will be able to help with most routine queries and if they can’t help they’ll find the person who can.  If you need to speak to a specific teacher it’s often easier to phone before or after school (all teachers are in school until at least 3.30pm). If a teacher isn’t available then they will call you back at a time convenient for you.

Home School Agreement

We believe children learn best within the context of a home school relationship built on trust and open and honest dialogue.

Key messages in terms of the expectations of this relationship are captured in our Home School Agreement which we ask all parents to sign at the outset of their relationship with our school.

Transport

Prior to starting school, the local authority work with pupils and their families to assess the most suitable transport arrangements for pupils.

If you require further information, you can contact Bedford SEND transport team on:

 Friends of Grange

Friends of Grange are registered charity, made up of school staff and parents who hold events to raise money for the school. We meet at least once a half term to plan events for the pupils, families, and the local community.

Some of the events we have held are:

  • Christmas and Summer Fayres
  • Gift shops at Christmas, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day
  • Grand raffle twice a year.

If you are interested in joining the Friends of Grange or would like more information about what we do, contact Cheryl Trinder.
