Equality Duty
At Grange we are committed to our vision of an equal, inclusive and compassionate school where everyone feels valued, and is empowered to achieve their full potential.
Our Duty
All of our decision making has the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion at the core; we embrace the principles of the Equality Act 2010 to do all we can to eliminate discrimination due to the protective characteristics of:
- Age
- Sex
- Race
- Disability
- Religion or belief
- Sexual orientation
- Gender reassignment
- Pregnancy or maternity
- Marriage or civil partnership
- Advance equality of opportunity
Our Commitment
Our school is committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting understanding, respect and celebration of diversity.
Through our UNICEF Rights Respecting ethos and partnership with Equaliteach, we have embedded a strong culture of equality, ensuring all members of our community understand their own and others’ rights.
Our Equality Policy sets out clear actions to prevent prejudice, discrimination and victimisation across the school community and workforce. We continually review and strengthen our approach in line with our work with Equaliteach.
This year, our key priorities are to:
- Maintain clear procedures for recognising and responding to prejudice-related incidents
- Ensure all staff feel confident addressing such incidents
- Support pupils to understand and apply the anti-bullying policy
- Encourage pupils to report concerns confidently
- Promote a shared understanding of our commitment to equality among pupils and families
- Ensure all staff fully understand and implement our Equality Policy
