Work Experience

From the beginning of the academic year, all Sixth Form students will attend a work experience placement every Thursday during term time. On these days, students will not attend the school site, as they will be gaining valuable experience in a real working environment. If there is a gap with students work experience parents are responsible for supporting and supervising online work experience, research and practicing CV writing/letters of application.

The purpose of this programme is to support students in developing key employability skills, building confidence, and gaining insight into potential career pathways. It is important that the placement reflects your child’s interests and career aspirations wherever possible.

We ask that families take responsibility for securing a suitable work experience placement for their child. This placement must be confirmed before the start of the new academic year and should be ready to commence in the first week of September. Students and families should fill in the inital work experience form on Grofar so that staff can confirm the placement.

All students will have a login to Grofar which is a platform used to monitor and track work experience. We will use Grofar to communicate with students and employers.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact our careers advisor, Sandra Williams, sandra.williams@biltt.org
