English

The English curriculum focuses on developing the functional literacy skills students need for everyday life and future employment. Lessons are designed to build confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening through practical,
real-life activities that support independence and effective communication. Students follow a personalised pathway based on their individual starting points and future goals.

Students will continue to work on consolidating Entry Level 3 qualifications (Pearson) while others will progress to Functional Skills English Level 1 (Pearson). Other students will continue with or work towards a GCSE (EDUQAS) in English Language.

The curriculum supports students in developing the skills needed to communicate effectively, understand information, express their ideas clearly and successfully navigate the demands of adult life and employment.
